Stay on Track: Brewing Tips for the Cooler Months

As we’re now well into the cooler months, the drop in temperature can impact your brewing. While the weather might not be as harsh, the change in environment can still affect both your methods and the final outcome. With brewing during colder temperatures, a little extra care will help you get the best results!

Keep your brewing at room temperature

For steady fermentation, aim to keep your brewing setup between 64-72°F (18-22°C). If the temperature drops below 64°F (18°C), it can slow fermentation and affect the brewing stage, potentially impacting your final results. If where you brew is on the cooler side, try moving your setup to a warmer spot inside. You may also wish to consider extending your brewing time by a day or two in cooler conditions.

Mixing tips: Shake it up!

Cold water and a chilled Fresh Press can make mixing tougher. Try these quick tips:

- Bring Fresh Press to room temperature before adding to your Pinter (you can put the unopened pouch in a warm bowl of water to achieve this).

- Use room temperature water to help with mixing.

- Shake your Pinter for longer than the usual recommended time to ensure proper mixing. Shaking for 30 seconds x 3 times should do the trick!

Hopper beers in cooler conditions

For Hopper brews, colder temps can make the liquid more viscous, which may cause it to empty slowly, or prevent it from dispensing properly. Bring the Hopper to room temperature first, and if the pouring slows or it’s not dispensing, try tipping the Pinter from side to side gently.

With these quick tweaks, you're set to keep enjoying fresh pints, whatever the weather!
